Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) is the largest and oldest community college in the Pennsylvania system, serving more than 20,000 students in a broad geographic service area. JMZ prepared the College’s 2010 Master Plan Update, which built on the firm’s 2005 College-Wide Master Plan, covering all five HACC campuses and its downtown center. While the estimated total for all identified projects in the long range plan was $238 million, the 10-year master plan included $133 million of anticipated projects. The planning process involved a comprehensive assessment of college facilities and infrastructure; an environmental scan; an academic program review; enrollment projections; a classroom utilization study; detailed space programming; a traffic and parking study; and a comprehensive land use plan.
HACC has implemented the vast majority of projects recommended in the Master Plan, including a new Safety Training Center on the Harrisburg Campus, a new campus in York, substantial expansion of the Gettysburg Campus, and a new Academic Building on the Lancaster Campus.
